Juan Baret is a Dominican-born American craftsman, artist, and Air Force veteran who grew up in the Bronx in the shadow of the original Yankee Stadium. His love of baseball began on the streets and ballfields of New York City and remained a constant throughout his military service and later career in engineering and construction.

After injuries and the challenges of transitioning from military to civilian life, Juan turned a personal challenge into an opportunity. Baret Bats™ was born from that transformative journey. Determined to stay connected to the game he loved, Juan taught himself woodturning, design, and bat making. What began as a personal creative outlet evolved into a passion for creating handcrafted bats that celebrate service, heritage, perseverance, family, and community. His journey reflects the belief that challenges can become opportunities when met with hard work, creativity, and determination.

Today, his work has been commissioned by professional baseball organizations, players, coaches, military units, charities, corporations, VIPs, and collectors nationwide. His handcrafted bats have been displayed in museums, presented as commemorative gifts, used by coaches, and swung by baseball players of all ages. His craftsmanship has been featured by the Smithsonian Institution, where one of his commemorative bats became part of the National Museum of American History collection.

Many of his creations have been used to recognize service, celebrate milestones, support charitable causes, and preserve stories for future generations. Through his work, Juan has supported veterans, youth baseball programs, community organizations, and baseball enthusiasts of all ages, using the game as a way to bring people together and honor the values of hard work, opportunity, family, and service to others.

Working from his workshop in New York's Hudson Valley, Juan blends craftsmanship, creativity, and storytelling to create meaningful pieces that honor achievement, preserve memories, and bring people together through America's pastime. Every piece is crafted with purpose and designed to tell a story.
